In a traumatic ordeal that lasted several days, Olugbenga Olawore, a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has been rescued after he was kidnapped along the Lanlate-Eruwa Road in Oyo State.
Olawore who is a pastor of RCCG Heaven’s Gate Parish, Lagos Province 73 was on Thursday abducted alongside others in a 14 seater bus at the Maya area and only regained his freedom on Sunday.
Oyo state Commissioner for Information Dotun Oyelade issued a statement on Sunday in Ibadan, the state capital, where he assured residents that the security forces are actively working to keep the community safe.
Addressing the recent kidnapping in the state he affirmed “Our people should rest assured that our security apparatuses in the state are fully alive and alert to their responsibilities.
“The state government is monitoring and gauging the security situations within its boundary efficiently.
“Since the incident was reported, the government has been in close contact with the state Commissioner of Police, Hamzat Adebola, his team and our security teams and all parties have done the needful as usual to ensure the safety of lives and property of our citizens.”
Oyelade emphasized that Oyo State remained the most peaceful state in the country.
