The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has deeply appreciated his God’s given wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Foluke Adeboye, on the occasion of her 75th birthday.
The well attended gathering was held at the Youths centre in the Redemption City and graced by General Overseers of other missions as well as senior Pastors in the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
Taking to the podium, Pastor Adeboye, fondly addressed as Daddy G.O, made the following remarks:
“Let me start by saying, let somebody shout hallelujah!!! It is not in the program that I’ll be saying something, probably because we know that everything I could say about my wife, I think I wrote in a book: He Who Finds A Wife Finds A Good Thing. Apart from the salvation of my soul and the baptism in the Holy Spirit, the best thing the Lord has done for me is to give me a good wife. Well, the preacher has reminded you of many things like how we met; the New Testament Bible, the 2 white handkerchiefs that turned someone who was an absolute rotten sinner to making the decision, saying this is the fellow I want to marry. The preacher told you, and by the way, that sermon was absolutely great! I’ve listened to birthday sermons before but the one I heard this morning is excellent.
“What can I say about my wife? I don’t want to keep repeating words steadily. You want to die, mess with my wife; it’s as simple as that. I will kill you so thoroughly you won’t even see the resurrection morning. I’ve said it before. They said if you kill somebody the government will kill you, and I said you have to find a weapon. I don’t have to kill you with a gun, you will just not wake up the next morning. The doctors will call it heart attack and I’ll tell God not to wait till judgment and just send this fellow to hell straight. Well, it’s as simple as that.
“Every man has his red line. Of recent, I heard of someone talking, who is saying that Pastor Adeboye is getting the power he uses from some demons at Redemption camp. Some people said, are you not going to answer this one? I said, “ah, we should be praying because this man is committing an unpardonable sin”. When somebody begins to give the glory of the Holy Spirit to demons, that’s what Jesus said, that’s what they said about Jesus. They said He is casting out demons using the power of demons and Jesus Christ said, “well, the fellow is not only doomed in this world but doomed in the world to come”. So, when you hear someone say that kind of thing, you should just pray for mercy for such a fellow.
“So even Jesus Christ had his red line. He said if you sin against God the Father, you will be forgiven. If you sin against God the Son, you will be forgiven. But if you blaspheme the Holy Spirit, then you’re finished. As rich in mercy as God is, you cross that red line, you’re done for so.
“There are all kinds of people who have been mocking us, talking all kinds of rubbish, but they have been so careful they didn’t mess around with my wife because if they do, you will read about it in the news. I love you, you’re my children, my friends and as long as you don’t touch my wife; I can’t take that. You mess around with my wife, there’s no begging, you won’t even be around to do the begging; it’s as simple as that.
“Then you say how can a man say that of a woman… well, maybe I never told you this one, probably just one thing to say apart from we suffered together, apart from the fact that of all the people that were courting her, I was the poorest, she was a princess. When I came to do my postgraduate studies, I could handover my mother to this woman and know she would take care of her. The fellow who can take care of your mother, a fellow you can trust your mum to particularly when you happen to be the only son of that mum, and now someone will begin to tell you something about that woman, the best thing to do is just kill that fellow. But apart from that, there was a time I decided to fast because I have faced challenges in my life. There was a particular one I knew this one was going to require fasting and prayer, so I decided I’ll fast. I fasted 40 days and 40 nights, and of course, you know whatever thing I’m doing, she’s doing. She’s very kind, she knows it’s not going to be easy if you’re going to fast and your wife is eating. I’ve not met a better cook than my wife; in order not to get me tempted, whenever I’m fasting, she will be fasting too.
“40 days and 40 nights, I fasted and prayed, and the mountain remained. Then I felt if 40 days and 40 nights does not work, let me try another 40 days and 40 nights. And she joined me and the mountain remained. So, I said, I know what I will do is this: My dear, I’m going to fast until this problem is solved. At least if God sees I’m about to die, he will respond, so let’s reach an agreement. By the time we reach the 40 days and 40 nights and this problem is not solved, you will break and I will continue and we agreed. Then 40 days and 40 nights came, the mountain was a bit more than how we started, so I decided to continue.
“So, if you think you’ve seen mountains before, I have seen 1 or 2. So my dear, thank you very much, you’ve done your bit; fasted 40 days and 40 nights 3 times, 3 times in one year, you have to be a special wife, so thank you very much.
“She said, “no, when you stop is when I stop”. That’s not what we agreed upon and when I’m talking of fasting, you know that kind of fast that all the holes in your belt have to punch new ones because you have contracted a little bit. 41st day, 42nd day, but she refused to stop. She said, “no, keep going, we’re in this together”. That’s when I said to God, “solve the problem if you want to, I’m not going to lose my wife”. I was compelled to break after 42 days because my wife said I’m not stopping unless you stop. That’s the kind of woman my wife is.
“So, when a man says he wants to spend the rest of his life with a woman and the woman is someone who says if you want to die, we die together and if you want to live, we live together. So, if anyone sees the glory of God in our lives today and is upset, may God forgive the person. If you see the glory and don’t know the story, may God forgive you. Maybe that is all I should say about my wife, and other things he has said.
“Those who know, some of you don’t know 10 percent of her generous nature; many of you don’t know what length, particularly when the person is down. Probably because of my nature of assignment, someone may have a problem, they will inform us the couple. Of course, because this is my prayer partner and we will pray and because I have several other things to think about, there may be a tendency for me to think I have prayed about that problem, I’ve fasted about it, I’ve done something about it. She won’t let me forget. She will suddenly say we have an unfinished job, there is pastor…there is sister…there is brother… the miracle we’re expecting for that person is not yet here and I will get back to square one. Thank God for that lady, one thing is certain, if there’s anyone going to heaven, my wife is going… I know that.
“I had to beg her even this morning as we were sitting down here, you are the one people have come to celebrate God about, relax now, at least for 2 hours, enjoy the program. As we were sitting down here, she’s still asking what about that fellow, have they given something for that fellow, what about that lady at 3 by 3, have they sent… Relax! Someone is doing that. That is why I am able to stay in the prayer room throughout the convention praying, because I know whatever that’s going on out there, someone is looking after it.
“ID had always asked me, “what is your pet name for your wife, “HONEY***”. If it’s HONEY*** I’ll eat it all, stop trying to find out. I have a special name for her, she has a special name for me, and if it is special, then it is special, it is confidential.
