Position matters a lot. The head is better than the tail that is why Deuteronomy 28:13 says you shall be head and not the tail, you shall be above only and not underneath. Position matters.
How important is it to be the head? You will understand that when they want your picture for your passport, all they want to see is the picture of your head, they don’t bother about the rest of the body. To be first is better than to be last. When the President is passing through, there is never anything called traffic jam, the road will be clear. If a messenger is passing by, the story can be different.
When you read Genesis 41:1-43, it tells the story of how Joseph overnight was repositioned and he became Prime Minister. The King said there will be an advance guard when he’s coming; tell everybody to just bow down, clear the way for him.
Sometimes you can even do that which is right and be punished for it. Joseph was just a slave, what he did was right but the wife of the master lied against him, and who is the master going to believe: the wife or the ordinary slave? That is why the one that is below ended up in prison.
To let you know how position is, in Amos 3:3 the Bible says only people of the same category work together. When the incurable is cured, the one who have been cured will leave the company of the incurable. In John 5:1-14, the moment the man of Bethesda got his healing, he left the company of the sick and never returned.
Position matters, if someone is mad, he is not likely to be in the company of those who are sane. But when the captive is set free, he will return to the different category of people. In Daniel 4, you can read the whole story, when Nebuchadnezzar became mad, no one told him to join the animals, he went voluntarily; but when God had mercy on him and his senses were restored, he returned back because position matters. When a sinner is truly saved, if you are genuinely saved, you will want to be in the company of those that are saved – Acts 9:1-30. You cannot be unequally yoked with others. Why? Because position maters.
It takes God to position a person. It takes God to take you from the miry clay to put you on the rock to stay. It takes the Almighty God to reposition you from the valley of sorrow to the mountain top of praises (Luke 7:11-15). It takes God to reposition you from being the one pursued to become the one pursuing your pursuer. It takes God to reposition you from total failure to super success like in Acts 5:14-16. Read about Peter whose shadow was healing the sick; at the beginning Peter was a total failure, he was a man that fished all night and caught nothing but God repositioned him and he became the talk of the town.
How does God do repositioning? How come God can reposition anybody?
According to Jeremiah 32:27, our God is the God of all flesh, nothing is too much for Him, and also, He is sovereign (Psalm 115:3). He is the sovereign one, the original majesty, He is also the Lord of Hosts, there is no force anywhere that can stop him. That is why the Bible in 1 Samuel 2: 7-8, says he can raise up one and bring down another, he can pick up a beggar from the dunghill and keep on raising him until he begins to move among princes. That’s why He can be the one to reposition.
The question that came up in my mind when he gave me this congress theme, the question I asked. I said Daddy, you don’t have to answer me, you know you are my daddy, I am your favourite son, why now? Why is it now you want to reposition some people?
You know what he said, He said number one, I have decided to do a new thing. You know the meaning of that? Your life is about to take a new turn (Isaiah 43:19). Do you know it is in the time of hardship that God likes to prove himself? And he said the reason he is doing the reposition now is because some people’s miracle can no longer wait. In I Kings 17:8-16, if help had not come at that crucial point to the widow of Zarephath, it would have been too late.
So, we come to the question who needs repositioning?
You see, no matter where you are, God can take you higher still. You remember the story of David; he was a shepherd boy. God repositioned him and he was anointed king before his brethren, then he was repositioned to the cave of Adullam, then a lot of people in distress gathered together to him. The Bible said he became captain, then he was repositioned higher and he became the king of Israel and he was repositioned higher and he became the father of the King of kings. It does not matter how great you are, God can still take you higher still. You can go from ill to healed, you can go from healed to whole, you can move from being whole to a healing vessel, healing others. You can move from someone who heals by touching to a level where your handkerchief will be healing and you can move to the level that your shadow can be healing the sick. You can move from destitute to comfortable; you can move from comfortable to rich, you can move from being rich to wealthy, you can move from wealthy to prosperous, you can move from prosperous to flourishing.
What will God require of me to be the one to be repositioned today?
God is sovereign, He does as He pleases but He is not arbitrary for everything He does He does it for a reason. He looks at the heart, He knows your heart. God said in Genesis 12:1-3, He said to Abraham I am going to bless you, I am going to make your name great, I am going to turn you to a blessing, I am going to curse who curse you, I am going to bless those who bless you, through you I am going to make a nation.
What did Abraham say? Why did God pick him from the ground to reposition? The God who knows the end from the beginning, God knows one day when He asks Abraham to give me his only son Isaac that he loved, he will not deny Him. God knew in advance that Abraham is going to be His friend. He knows you. He knows if He prospers you, you will serve Him with the money, He knows if He promotes you, you will not forget him, He knows tomorrow even from yesterday.
When He wanted to relocate the position of David, he said I have found a man who will do my will (Acts 13:21-22). God knows who will be grateful when He repositions him or her. He knew what He was doing when He made Solomon king, He knew he would return to say thank you. He chooses people because of the intent of their heart; He also rewards those who are diligent. Proverbs 22:29 says, “seeth a man diligent in his business he will stand before kings not before mere men.” Hebrews 11:6 says, “He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”. He knows your heart; He knows what you will do in the nearest future. He knows you want to serve Him, only you don’t have the means, you don’t have the position and He wants to reposition you. And of course, He answers prayers. In Mathew 7:7-8, He said, if you ask you shall be given, and if you seek you shall find and if you knock the door will be opened unto you.
Who will He reposition?
One with a correct heart, who is determined to serve God. Who can truly say, God reposition me and watch and see. He is looking for those who will diligently seek Him. He is ready to reposition those who will be hardworking. He is not going to reposition a lazy fellow; a lazy fellow will remain lazy. He answers prayers and He honours faith. He said in Mark 9:23, if only you believe, all things are possible to those that believe.
