The much anticipated general elections for electing the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, National Legislators, State Governors (apart from some off circle gubernatorial elections) and members of State Houses of Assemblies for the next four years, have come and gone.
Even though the pattern of Christian voting was skewed in favour of a Christian presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the winner of the presidential poll and hence, is the president-elect.
Notwithstanding the outcome of the presidential election, Christians all over the country have successfully sent clear signal to the political class that Christian vote matters and that Christians as far as politics and elections are concerned, are forces to be reckoned with.
It’s however time to put aside personal or religious interest and embrace collective goal for the national development of the country. The performance of the incoming president will speak volumes about the fear and reservations many Christians have expressed over his candidature. Tinubu must strive harder in his administration through excellent performance coupled with unbiased federal appointments in order to disabuse the minds of people who see him as an employed tool for Nigeria’s Islamization agenda.
Also, the Easter season is here, commemorating the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The death and resurrection of Christ is a symbol of victory. Victory over death, sickness, poverty and other works the devil uses to torment man. The beating, nailing to the cross and humiliation that Christ experienced, are all assurances that we as Christians and all that believe in His death and resurrection have been insured. May we never miss the grace of His resurrection in Jesus name.
