Without any iota of doubt, Nigeria is at the threshold of uncertainty. As time for the 2023 presidential election approaches, the political atmosphere is thick with hopelessness drawing from palpable fear of the possible emergence of an unfit candidate who may not be able to unite the country at all fronts.
Of the 18 candidates gunning for the top seat, three are the major contenders: the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar; and the candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi. These individuals are the top three that are gaining the attention of the electorate and Nigerians in general.
As at the time of this Editorial, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, has insisted that God has not revealed to him that the much-anticipated election will hold. However, the multi-dimensional challenges ranging from economic hardship, insecurity and others facing Nigerians are becoming unbearable. Average Nigerians are indeed under severe economic deprivation as the effects of inflation owing to leadership incompetence bite harder.
The desperation of money-bag politicians cannot be waved aside as the incumbent government appears to have lost meaningful direction toward improving the living condition of Nigerians. Energy scarcity is another nightmare Nigerians have been subjected to. The question now is, what is the way out?
First, every child of God must fervently call unto God for intervention to prevent the rise of affliction for another time. If the election is holding, every child of God and all peace-loving Nigerians with Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) must come out en masse to vote against the emergence of dubious politicians. Rescuing this nation from the hands of wicked and ungodly persons must be a collective decision. Spiritually, the children of God are at advantage to know the mind of God while politically, the people determine who physically steers the wheels of the nation.
On the issue of the same faith ticket, it is crucial for voters to register their position through their votes. This is an election that will determine the destiny and line of thought of the upcoming generation. We cannot afford to miss it again, now is the right time to act.
