In her bid to fulfill the Great Commission, the Bible Society of Nigeria and the Redeemed Christian Church of God have synergised to train missionaries with the sole purpose of carrying out efficient soul winning exercise in the mission field.

The training, which coincided with the 71st annual RCCG Convention, was carried out by an official of the BSN, Mr Benjamin Mordi.

More than 200 missionaries of RCCG were in attendance. At the end of the training, portable devices known as ‘Peoclaimer’ were distributed free to all trainees that registered and participated in the exercise which was held at the Redemption City, Mowe, Ogun State.

Speaking to our reporter, the trainer, Ben Mordi, said: “As you know, all that BSN does is to make the Word of God available and help people to engage with the word of God to transform their lives. But this programme, we call it ‘End-toEnd’. It’s one of the projects BSN uses to empower the church to do what they have been called to do.

Mordi, who also doubles as Media and PR, BSN, continued, “The singular purpose of the Church is to win souls. So, this programme is designed to empower missionaries, evangelists, pastors and churches generally to help them do the work of soul winning. The programme has three legs: the first one is audio Bible device.

“As these missionaries are being trained today, at the end of the training, we give them the audio devices. They have been shown how to use it. They would use it to set up Bible listening groups in their respective mission location. The group gathers weekly to listen to audio Bible in New Testament.

“In the course of listening to audio Bible, if any group has convert, BSN will provide Bible for those converts. With five projectors we are going to give out in the programme, they would also have opportunity to watch Jesus’ films. We have given out more than 100 projectors in the last five years to different churches just to empower them for the same purpose of winning souls.”

The trainer disclosed that the programme is being organised in different locations across the country, adding that it is meant to empower the Church for the purpose of soul winning.

“One of our partners is a US-based organisation, Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH). They provided the devices, Proclaimer, we gave out today to the missionaries at no cost. That’s the reason we don’t sell the device, and we don’t give it out for personal use; it is meant to be used in groups.

“The people that have challenges cannot go to listening centre, what we give them is SD card. The card is in different languages with Bible given out to those who need them in their language. They put it in their phone and listen to it. We also have another organisation that gives financial support but it can never be enough. That’s why we encourage churches to support us so we can do more than we are currently doing,” Mordi stated emphatically.

Speaking in the same vein, Lagos and Outer Lagos Coordinator, Faith Comes By Hearing, Mr. Edwin Ebeniro said the multi-national ministry is a US-based religious body collaborated with the BSN to spread the gospel to every nook and crannies of the globe.

“This programme here today is a collaboration between the Bible Society of Nigeria and FCBH. We came to give them support and to assure them that whatever it is, we will be with them until these devices go round to everybody who needs it. Our collaboration with BSN in this programme here today is to provide projectors and the device, Proclaimer.

Ebeniro explained that the ministry has been in existence more than 51 years ago and they have published audio in Scriptures in over a thousand, eight hundred languages globally, and they are still continuing.

The Vice Chairman, Regional Mission Coordinator & Provincial Mission Coordinator Forum, RCCG, Pastor Festus Oluwaseyi Akinlosotu posited that the training was about how missionaries in the RCCG can practically translate what they preach to people within their environment.

The programme is basically about how the missionaries in the Redeemed Christian Church of God can practically translate what they preach to people within their environment. There will be a gap if someone preaches and there nothing to take home to meditate on and study.

He said, “The Central Mission Board of the Redeemed Christian Church of God with its subsidiaries in Provincial and Regional mission coordinators who oversee missionaries in different parts of the country put this together.”

He noted that the church hope to replicate the training in its different regions across the country.
