The founder and General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Worldwide, Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya and his wife, Pastor (Dr.) Elizabeth Folasade Olukoya, paid an inspection visit on the Prayer City recently, to evaluate the state of preparedness of the facilities for the 35th anniversary and 2024 annual convention coming up between Thursday, 15th and Sunday, 18th August, 2024.
On her part, Mrs Olukoya got ecstatic when the inspection team got to the archival arena of the Shopping Mall, where the Volkswagen ‘Danfo’ bus, the first vehicle used by the G.O, is domiciled for historical purposes.
She went down memory lane, when she recalled that the bus was what she and her husband drove to drop off worshippers, one after the other, after the evening service, at Surulere axis; from where they move on to Obalende, to drop off those who resided in Victoria Island, before heading back home in the Yaba area of the Lagos metropolis.
According to her, what most people did not know was that having done the rounds of drop-offs and some ten minutes to drive to their home, “satan would say, ‘you have dropped all others at home and you are now going home. Let me see how you will get home now’ and one of the tyres of the bus will go flat, right there on the road. Then, I would become the midnight traffic controller, directing vehicles away from the bus, while daddy will do the changing of the flat tyre.” Thereafter, they embarked on the remaining journey back home, around 1 am, most times, when they will start to think of what to eat before going to bed.
The bus, with the original number plate, LA 7739 BE, was undergoing repair works, to give it a fresh looks, where it was parked. The four tyres are still intact and it looks splendid in the park, with all other of its components intact. Indeed, it is a tourist attraction to visitors and worshippers alike.
It is worth noting that the back of the Shopping Mall, near the archives arena, contains a prayer garden, designed by the contractor, Beth Billion, containing four water fountains, with well-groomed grasses and flower plants adorning the corner.
Taking off from the entrance into the sprawling Prayer City, daddy and mummy inspected the horticultural gardens, lining both sides of the road, which has recently been resuscitated and receiving final touches. Mummy G.O’s expertise in artistic designs was brought to bare, as she offered a number of pieces of advice on the decorations in the gardens.
Not many people are aware that the favourite colour of God is green but Dr. Olukoya pointed this out, saying that most of the creations of God, the trees, plants, and the grasses all come in greens.
At one of the deliverance halls, visited by the G.O and wife, they were shown the infrastructure and furnishings therein, while suggestions were also offered by the august visitors accordingly.
It was the turn of some of the residential halls thereafter, where the MFM founder and his wife were shown some of the newly renovated guests’ rooms, where they made observations about few things and explanations offered.
At the 9th Avenue of the Prayer City, which was hitherto a waterlogged area, the Olukoyas were amazed at the renovation works done at the area, which is now well paved and beautiful. The ambience of the Zion House and Ibadan House is now a sight to behold.
From there, the team moved to the altar arena, where some recommendations were also made to the contractor handling the sprawling altar area. From here, the visitation team, comprising two AGOs, Pastor Gbesan Adebambo and Pastor Ladejola Abiodun, the chairman of the Convention Planning Committee; the deputy chairman and a Senior Regional Overseer, Pastor Clement Imoru, led other members of the committee, as well as the G.O’s Monitoring Team, on the tour.
