All known religions advocate for peace, neighbourliness and good conduct but unfortunately, the same religions have been manipulated by some unfaithful adherents to cause terrible disaffection. For example, the two dominant religions in the world are Christianity and Islam. Reputable scholars of these religions have admitted that peaceful coexistence of human beings is a pivotal teaching in their Holy Books.
The recent barbaric killing of Deborah Samuel Yakubu by her school mates at the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State over alleged blasphemy of Prophet Mohammed is reprehensible and unacceptable in a civil society of the 21st century. Their action was not in line with any Holy Book but from blood thirsty and derailed teachers of the Quran majority of whom reside in the north.
It is time to call these teachers of killing in the name of God to order. God is one and requires the worship of His creatures and if any creature decides to wage war against Him, He is more than capable to deal with such erring creature and does not need an individual or a group of persons to do that for Him. So, pray, let these barbaric killings of God’s creatures stop!
