The Redeemed Christian Church of God’s (RCCG) glittering price and award ceremony, held on the final day of the church’s 72nd Convention, celebrated the achievements of various regions, Provinces and departments in closely contested events. RCCG Region 19 stole the show by bagging the most awards, followed by Region 11 and Region 2, a testament to their dedication and hard work.
Trophies were presented by the General Overseer, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, to the winners of first to third positions. Region 19 emerged as a multi-talented powerhouse, dominating the Children Quiz in the 9-12 age groups and the Teenager Quiz in the 16-19 age bracket, both resounding victories.
Proving that their mettle extends beyond academics, Region 19 demonstrated remarkable athleticism, clinching the gold medal in the Children Sports category and commendable silver in the Teenage Sports competition. This region’s remarkable achievements across multiple categories reflect their versatile and well-rounded skills, setting a high bar for other regions to follow.
The awards ceremony kicked off with the Youth Church Sunday School Report for the previous year, a highly contested category that recognized the achievements of young RCCG members in the realm of spiritual education. The results saw Youth Province 3 emerge as the top contender, followed by Youth Province 6 in second place and Youth Province 4 rounding out the top three.
In the Adult Sunday School Report category, Rivers Province 2 surged ahead of the pack, securing the top spot and demonstrating their commitment to spiritual education. Not to be outdone, Lagos Province 3 grabbed the silver, with Lagos Province 2 securing the bronze.
In the highly competitive Church Planting through Sunday school category, RCCG Region 11 shone brightly, snagging the top prize for its outstanding efforts in expanding the church’s reach through this educational avenue. The award highlighted the strategic importance of Sunday School in supporting the church’s mission and the commitment of Region 11 members to this vital aspect of RCCG’s growth and development.
In the National Youth Sunday School Quiz Competition, Region 1 emerged victorious, displaying their intellectual acumen and devotion to spiritual learning. Regions 30 and 36 took second and third place respectively, highlighting the impressive depth of knowledge within RCCG’s youth community and the rich educational opportunities offered through the church’s programs.
The Adult category of the National Sunday School Quiz Competition proved equally fierce, with Region 1 once again securing the gold medal, demonstrating the region’s intellectual prowess and commitment to spiritual education. Region 26 and Region 37 took the silver and bronze medals respectively.
In a heartwarming display of inclusivity, the National Sunday School Quiz Competition also featured a category for visually impaired participants. Adedipupo Christopher rose to the occasion, overcoming adversity to clinch the top spot, while Agboola Funsho Olalekan garnered the third place award, both of them showcasing their incredible strength and determination.
As the National Sunday School Quiz Competition expanded to include international participants, Nigeria’s youthful and adult talents once again proved formidable, clinching the top spots in both categories. Germany emerged as a notable contender, securing silver in the Youth category and bronze in the Adult category, while Sierra Leone and Gabon showcased their knowledge with third and second places respectively in the Youth and Adult categories.
House Fellowships, a cornerstone of RCCG’s community-based spiritual education, were also recognized at the awards ceremony. Region 19 excelled in the establishment of house fellowship centers, earning the gold medal, while Regions 23 and 21 received silver and bronze for their contributions to this vital aspect of RCCG’s mission. In the Training of House Fellowship Leaders category, Region 10 claimed the top spot, with Regions 46 and 20 following closely in second and third positions respectively.
The category for Real Attendance in House Fellowship witnessed a tight competition among the regions, with Region 2 emerging victorious, followed by Regions 1 and 25 in second and third places. Meanwhile, in the crucial Church Planting through House Fellowship category, Region 25 displayed exceptional prowess, securing the coveted gold medal. Regions 20 and 33 came in hot on their heels, clinching silver and bronze respectively.
The Sunday School Bible Quiz and Academic Awards recognized the impressive biblical knowledge of RCCG’s youngest members, with Region 12 sweeping the top spot in the 6-8 age groups. Regions 45 and 6 garnered silver and bronze medals respectively in this category. In the 9-12 age groups, Region 2 claimed the silver medal, followed closely by Region 42 in third place.
As the awards continued to shine a spotlight on RCCG’s dedicated young learners, the Teenage category for ages 13-15 saw Region 33 capture the gold medal for their exceptional performance. Regions 35 and 49 followed close behind, earning silver and bronze for their efforts. The older teenage bracket of 16-19 witnessed Region 46 and 37 snagging the silver and bronze medals.
The Children’s Sports category witnessed a fierce contest, with Region 11 and 22 claiming the silver and bronze medals respectively, attesting to their athletic prowess. The Teenager’s Sports competition was equally competitive, with Region 11 snatching the top spot, followed by Region 25 in third place.
The Children’s and Teenager’s Choir competitions saw RCCG’s young choristers take centre stage, showcasing their melodious voices and musical talents. Region 2 demonstrated exceptional vocal prowess, capturing the gold in the Teenager’s category and silver in the Children’s, followed closely by Region 33 and 21 in first and third respectively for Children’s Choir. Region 11 and 20 also put up a strong showing, clinching silver and bronze in the Teenager’s Choir category.
In the grand finale of the awards ceremony, the Understanding the Scriptures category saw Lagos Zone 1 claim the ultimate prize, showcasing their profound knowledge of biblical teachings. This victory was the icing on the cake for a convention that celebrated the best and brightest of RCCG’s members across multiple disciplines, emphasizing the importance of spiritual learning, community, and fellowship within the church.
