The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) held the second edition of its International Shift Talent Hunt at the Redemption City of God, as part of its ongoing efforts to foster a spirit of creativity, talent development, and youth empowerment within its global congregation. This vibrant initiative seeks to provide a platform for young people to showcase their unique talents, including those in music, drama, and other artistic fields, and to support their growth and development as performers and creators.
As the second season of the International Shift Talent Hunt kicked off at RCCG Children’s auditorium on September 23, renowned figures in the entertainment industry, including Nollywood actress Chioma Ifemeludike and gospel artist Paul Nams, took on the role of judges, lending their expertise and guidance to aspiring performers. With their collective wisdom, these industry luminaries offered valuable insights and constructive feedback to the talent hopefuls, helping to shape and refine their skills.
The stakes are high for the International Shift Talent Hunt, with a grand prize of 10 million Naira, a brand-new car, vacation trips, and promotional deals up for grabs. As the competition intensifies over the course of ten days, with the final round scheduled for October 3, 2024, over 220 talented artists from around Nigeria will vie for recognition in music, dance, drama, and creative arts.
The BeautifulDay Testimonial was present at the event to witness the exceptional performances on display. We had the opportunity to chat with Lentol Music, a broadcast journalist and one of the participants, about his experience in the competition. He described the event as a fantastic opportunity for budding artists, appreciating the level of support provided to the contestants and the sense of camaraderie among them. Lentol extolled the positive atmosphere fostered by the talent hunt, sharing that it was a truly affirming and enriching experience.
Chosen One Dancers, another contestant, radiated joy as they recounted their participation in the programme, “we were at first nervous when we entered, everywhere was good, and we had the support of our loved ones. Winning would mean a lot to us so we can also inspire others to showcase their hidden talent.”
Gabriel, a musician and participant in the talent hunt, spoke to the BeautifulDay Testimonial with a mix of nervous excitement. Describing the competition as a thrilling and suspenseful journey, Gabriel shared his joy at the chance to connect with new people and step out of his comfort zone. Although the talent hunt presented a daunting challenge, he found comfort in the belief that his participation represented a significant step towards realizing his dreams and fulfilling his purpose as a musician.
For Isaac, another contestant vying for a spot in the talent hunt, the opportunity to network and witness the diverse array of talents on display was a highlight of the event. His family, he shared, constituted his strongest support system, and winning the competition would be an affirmation of their belief in his abilities. With a firm conviction that faith could carry him through to the finish line, Isaac entered the contest with confidence and determination.
The Talent Hunt has been an exciting platform for showcasing young Christian talents. This year’s event, known as SHIFT 2.0, is already underway at the RCCG Redemption City.
This year’s competition has introduced enhanced production quality, with Green Image Productions leading the technical aspects, including advanced visual effects and storytelling to elevate the performances.
