Pastor E. A. Adeboye during ‘Ewi’ rendition at the 71st Convention

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has created additional new 29 Provinces and 9 Regions to expand the administrative structure of the church in Nigeria.

General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye made this known while announcing the decisions of the Governing Council of the church during the last day of the Ministers’ conference to commence her 71st Convention with the theme, ‘Beyond Expectation’ held at the Redemption City of God.

The RCCG is a fast growing Pentecostal church globally and it has become a tradition to expand its structure during her yearly convention.

A reliable source said the creation has become a necessity to pave way for promotion to her army of ministers.  Pastors of the church eagerly look forward for promotion or transfer to new station at the early convention.

With the latest creation, the total number of Provinces now stands at 406 while the Regions increased to 51.

The General Overseer has also conveyed the decision of the Governing Council to split her American Continent into two administrative units. While the headquarters of Continent 1 is in America, the Continent 2 will be located in Canada respectively.

Meanwhile,  Pastor Dele Olowu, the hitherto Special Assistant to the General Overseer (SATGO), Europe Mainland Affairs and Pastor Abraham Adewole Haastrup, the Assistant General Overseer and Pastor in charge of the Australia & Pacific Region have been retired and positioned as Continental Overseer emeritus. They were being replaced by Pastor Leke Sanusi (Europe) and Pastor Ibukun Williams (Australia).

However, the duo retired pastors would still be in office till December 31st 2023 before fully handing over the offices to the new appointees.

In another development, Pastor Adeboye said the Redemption camp has officially assumed the status of a city. Thus, it is to be addressed as “The Redemption City of God.”

Recall that during last year 70th convention of the church, the General Overseer made the announcement of the new nomenclature and subsequently appointed Pastor Sunday Edward Akande as the National Overseer, to specifically overseer the administration of the city.

In the light of this new status of the city, the man of God said it has become imperative to rejig the security architecture of the community and its neighbourhood.  He thereafter set up 4-man security committee whose members are drawn from retired army General, Assistant Inspector of police and others. Though the names of the committee’s members were not made public, the congregation was however asked to pray for them.
