The story of Miss Mmesoma Joy EJIKEME, a 16-year-old girl who emerged as the overall best student in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scoring 362 over 400 is a truly inspiring one.

Ejikeme, who is a student of Anglican Girls Secondary  School, Uruagu, Nnewi  in Anambra state, scored 362 in the following subjects;  English Language 98,  Biology 94, Physics 89 and  Chemistry 81 respectively.

Her achievement is even more remarkable given the fact that over 1.3 million students took  part in the exam.

Ejikeme Joy’s achievement has had a tremendous impact on her community and the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Her success has inspired other young people, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, to believe that they too can achieve great things with hard work and dedication.

Her story has also highlighted the importance of education and the need for society to support young people in their pursuit of knowledge.

The state government reacted to the news, with a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Charles Soludo, Christian Aburime, saying that Ejikeme’s excellent feat brought joy and celebration to her school and Anambra state as her teachers, parents, and fellow students were thrown into a euphoric and exhilarating mood.

The commissioner of education in Anambra state, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, similarly commended Ejikeme’s performance, describing it as “excellent and very outstanding”.

In recognition of her feat, a non-governmental group has pledged to honour Ejikeme in this year’s Anambra Man of the Year Award. This according to the planning committee, is a way to inspire other students in the State to work harder.

Miss Mmesoma Joy EJIKEME who scored the highest mark of 362 over 400 in the 2023/24 JAMB’s UTME is here being congratulated by her Pastor in Charge of Province, Julius Olanrewaju in Nnewi,  Anambra Province 2.

She will be celebrated among very eminent people from the state in July this year at the annual Anambra Man of the Year Award event.

The group stated that the she will be given a laptop computer and cash prize to encourage her. The organisation equally “has intention to display her on a billboard at a strategic location in the state.”

They believed that such gesture will motivate Mmesoma to continue to work harder and equally spur other students from the state to emulate her.

“Her remarkable performance is not only commendable, it has brought honour, respect, prestige and glory to the government and people of Anambra state. This is actually what Anambra Man the Year Award stands for – to project our people who are our greatest assets and paint our state in bright colours”. The group said.

Mmesoma and her parents are members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Life Chapel at Uruagu in Nnewi. She plans to read Pharmacy in the University.

Pastor in charge of Anambra Province 2, Pastor Julius Olanrewaju has also congratulated the Ejikeme’s family for their daughter outstanding academic performance.
