The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E. A Adeboye on August 7th, 2022 announced the appointment of a new National Overseer of the mission in person of Pastor Sunday Edward Akande.
Pastor Adeboye explained to the Ministers of the Church during the grand finale of the four day RCCG Ministers’ Conference held at the Old Arena, Redemption Camp, that it was the decision of the Governing Council of the Church to make Pastor Sunday Akande the new National Overseer.
According to Pastor Adeboye, the office of the National Overseer unlike before will be for two years prior to decision of the Governing Council to extend the official assignment to a year or two.
Before his appointment as the new National Overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande was the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Special duties and the Pastor-in-Charge of Region 23 based in Warri, Delta State.
Pastor Adeboye explained that, ‘’the new National Overseer will be based in Redemption Camp, where he will be in Charge of the 40 Parishes located at the Redemption Camp and other matters as dim fit by the General Overseer’’. Pastor Sunday Akande will be taking the helm of affairs from the outgoing National Overseer, Pastor Joseph Obayemi who served the mission for 7 years in that capacity
Similarly, the office of the RCCG Administration and Personnel has been separated. Adeboye also announced Pastor Dele Balogun, the Pastor-in-Charge of Region 13, Edo State as the new head of RCCG Admin while Pastor Julius Olalekan who was formerly the Pastor-in-Charge of Region17 located in Bauchi State, as the new RCCG head of Personnel.
Thirty-three new Provinces and 7 Regions were also announced as being created. He went further to tell the worshippers that 2,048 full Pastors, 4196 Assistant Pastors and 9521 Deacon and Deaconesses were or ordination during the Perfect Jubilee Convention of 8th-14th August, 2022.
The age of 70, according to reverend an of God still stands as the official retirement age but those that may be in this category must make themselves ready to serve the Lord till He comes.
