Let us be truthful with ourselves, are the signs still following affirmative. Yet, it is a long-settled matter that the just shall live by faith. Are we truly living by faith today as the redeemed of the Lord that are the righteousness of God by faith in Christ?
Be it unto you according to your faith:
This is one powerful spiritual principle that will always deliver. What you believe will always (almost invariably) manifest in your life and/or ministry. It worked for the Lord Jesus Christ, so it will also work for you if you are faithful.
Our father in the Lord, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, had put it this way on one occasion: “I say in all modesty and with great gratitude to God, that I am a living testimony in this respect. The Lord spoke the word, I believed it, and there was performance in too many respects.”
For example, years ago when I just took over as the General Overseer of the RCCG, I asked the Lord to build for me a small house that would, at least, comfortably house my family. And He told me, “Son, I am building you a city.” I was then staying in a one-bedroom apartment somewhere in Mushin, Lagos State, Nigeria, but here I am today. The Redemption Camp is fast turning into a large city, by the grace of God. Let somebody shout Hallelujah! The just shall live by faith. The Bible says that “Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” (Galatians 3:6)
If you believe, you will see the glory of God:
God has not changed. He is still looking for vessels to recruit into His end-time army to pull down the strongholds of the devil and draw souls into His kingdom.
Brethren, let us all begin to believe the Lord for mighty things, great things that will show that we really know the Lord our God, the Almighty, and would not continue to insult His person by our petty demands and asking for little things that He would consider as insignificant or as signs of unbelief in our hearts. I am being sincere with you. Many of us ask God for petty things and do not suggest that we really know Him, the Lord the creator of heaven and earth, full of wisdom and might and so generous that He gives liberally to those who ask of Him (James 1:5).
Look! Jesus Christ remains the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrew 13:8). He does not change. His faithfulness is from generation to generation. If you ask the Lord for great things in His will and in furtherance of the gospel of Christ, and you do not doubt or waiver in your faith, you can rest assured that He will do it, just as He has promised.
He is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19). Unless you are asking amiss, unless you doubt or do not truly believe that you will receive what you are asking, God delights in answering the prayers of His children and giving to them what or when they ask.
Before you ask anything in prayer, it is important, (like Elijah did in 1 Kings 18:30-35), that you repair every broken altar in your life, especially the altar of prayer, sacrifices of praise, worship, evangelism and soul-winning.Before crying to God to send down His fire of revival upon your soul, your sacrifices and the people, the condition of your heart matters a lot.
ii) Love and obey the Lord
To live by faith is to love and obey the Lord. The Lord Jesus Christ put this very succinctly in John 14:15 –“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
Love for God is attested by prompt obedience to His word. You cannot claim to love God and live in disobedience to the word of God. You can never be justified choosing to live in conscious disregard for the word of God. You are His friend when you do what He commands you by His word, because to obey is better than sacrifice in the sight of God.
King Saul lost his throne through disobedience. Holiness is in totally obeying the Lord at all times and places, whether or not it is convenient. Justification is in believing God and hearkening to His word or voice.
iii) Abide in Christ and let His Word abide in you (John 15:7):
Your prayer for justification is guaranteed only if you abide in the Lord and His words abide in you. So, let His word dwell in you richly as commanded in Colossians 3:16. Abiding in Christ is to live in holiness, submitting one’s life totally to the authority of the word of God. It is giving heed to the practical success key that the Lord gave to Joshua and by which he excelled.
