The President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke, has issued a strong warning against preachers who promote doctrines that deviate from the foundational truths of the Christian faith. Speaking at his first press conference after being re-elected for a second term, Bishop Oke made it clear that the PFN will no longer tolerate misleading teachings within its ranks.
Accompanied by members of the PFN executive, Oke addressed concerns about the growing trend of doctrinal errors being propagated, particularly on digital platforms. He assured the public that the fellowship is aware of such preachers and will soon take decisive steps to uphold sound doctrine.
“We are aware of the strange messages being preached by some pastors online. We know those who are deviating from the truth. As part of our upcoming PFN revalidation exercise, we will take a firm position against them. Measures will be put in place to preserve the integrity of our fellowship,” he declared.
On Education and National Development
Bishop Oke also spoke passionately against policies in some northern states that hinder education. He criticized the decision by certain governors to shut down schools during Ramadan, calling it detrimental to national progress.
“The education of our children is fundamental to the future of our nation. Closing schools because of religious celebrations is counterproductive. Those who brought this religion to Nigeria do not shut down their schools for fasting. We must not be more Catholic than the Pope,” he stated, urging northern leaders to rethink their stance for the sake of the country’s development.
Defending PFN’s Leadership and Mission
Addressing concerns about the effectiveness of the PFN leadership during his first tenure, Bishop Oke and his executive members reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the body. He emphasized that his re-election was a testament to the positive impact of the fellowship under his leadership.
“PFN is a spiritual body that God has blessed, and by virtue of its size and influence, it has become politically relevant. We are strong, organized, and properly structured,” he stated.
He also expressed regret over the controversies surrounding the PFN elections, which became a topic of media speculation.
“In our 40 years of existence, we have never experienced such public controversy. However, our founding fathers and the National Advisory Council handled the situation with wisdom and maturity. We do not fight battles in the press; we fight on our knees before God, and that is why we always win,” Oke emphasized.
A Renewed Vision for PFN’s Second Term
As he embarks on his second term, Bishop Oke pledged to foster unity within the PFN while vigorously pursuing the vision of its founding fathers.
“We will work together, regardless of tribe, race, region, or zone. We will honor our spiritual heritage and stand firm on biblical values. Our doors will be open to the next generation of Christian leaders across Nigeria,” he assured.
Bishop Oke also reiterated the PFN’s commitment to national transformation through prayer and advocacy, declaring that the church will actively contribute to Nigeria’s economic and spiritual prosperity.
“We will pray for our nation, fight against all forms of crime, violence, and social evils, and trust God to make Nigeria a land of peace and righteousness. The PFN will remain a force for good, speaking and acting in alignment with God’s will for our country.”
With a renewed sense of mission, Bishop Oke assured both the church and national leaders of PFN’s unwavering commitment to building a united, just, and prosperous Nigeria, where no one is oppressed.
